GARMISCH, Germany – As part of Month of the Military Child celebration at Garmisch Elementary Middle School, students showed their patriotism by wearing red, white, and blue. Students and faculty also had the meaningful opportunity to partner with base military members as students observed the proper raising and lowering of the American flag.

This hands-on experience gave students a deeper appreciation for the respect, care, and ceremony connected to our nation’s flag. With continued training, the raising and lowering of the flag will become an official student-led responsibility, guided by our Haus Council and shared across grade levels. This effort will help foster honor, leadership, and patriotism throughout our school community.

Garmisch Elementary Middle School sincerely appreciates the support of COL Paradis and his team for providing this hands-on training and helping students better understand the importance of properly caring for the flag. From the careful instruction to the powerful sound of the flag snapping into place before it was raised, this was a memorable moment for the entire student body and one that will have a lasting impact.
